Duramax plus foundation review, May 6, 2007

I selected this product because our local Historical Preservation Board only allows a vinyl 6' maximum shed without a review of the Hysterical Bored. The foundation was made of somewhat flimsy metal. If I did it again I would have build my own with treated lumber. The shed and foundation size is 1" larger all around than the plywood base that you are instructed to fit onto the foundation. The instructions and fitting of the many pieces were excellent. It took me about 3 hours to assemble the base with plywood and probably around 5 for the shed. It was a one person job. The alignment of the roof pieces was a little tricky but I used a thick screw driver to center the holes. The height of the center interior roof brace is exactly 65 1/2 inches so if you are taller you'll need to duck. All in all I recommend this product.

The roof structure is very weak and mine has collapsed with our normal WI snow fall. So far the company has not honered its warranty with its so called tested snow capacity of 601lbs/sqft, telling me it is an act of nature such as a hurricane? I say, don't sell a product in a climate were it will fail if you do not plan to stand behind it. Avoid this product and save yourself some grief.

Despite some of the more outspoken negative reviews for this shed, I liked what I heard from the positive ones and took a gamble with this shed.

Despite what some reviewers have experienced, I found the instructions to be complete, easy to follow, and concise. If you are used to Ikea and other flat-pack furniture instructions of the like, you will find Duramax's instructions to be a breath of fresh air. They are virtually devoid of engrish and the graphics are a fair representation of what you should be looking at. Every time I had a question regarding orientation or position of a piece the instructions were very instructive. It took me about 6 hours total working by myself to build the shed. Sure, the panels *individually* are flimsy, but once fully assembled, the shed was as study as I'd expect from thin walled steel tubing and molded plastic. I wouldn't jump up and down on the roof, but I probably wouldn't hesitate to push a friend into the wall.
